Jake CF-L2, CF-L1
Jake started CrossFit in 2012 and has been coaching at Evansville CrossFit since 2014. He received his CrossFit Level 2 Trainer Certificate in 2016.
Jake is a 2016 graduate of USI and currently attends Vincenness University where he studies Funeral Services Education.
In addition to coaching and school, Jake is the strength and conditioning coach, as well as varsity offensive assistant, for the Central High School football program. While playing for Central, Jake was a two-time, All-State quarterback.
Jake's favorite part of CrossFit is the fact that the tight-knit community is made up of individuals who are trying to live healthy lifestyles and improve their well-being.
Lacy started crossfit in 2013 after being a collegiate cross country and track runner at USI. She was looking for something to fuel her competitive edge and CrossFit did the trick. Lacy qualified for the Central super regional in both 2015 and 2016, as an individual. She took the 2017 season off because she and her husband Andrew were ready to start a family.
She gave birth to Baby Briar in February 2017. Lacy received her CF-L1 this year and is currently offering personal training here, at Evansville CrossFit, while on her leave from being a teacher. Her favorite part of CrossFit is that it proves to people they can do so much more than they ever thought.
CF-L1, CF-L2, CCFT, CF Law Enforcement, CF Kettlebell
Mark started CrossFit in 2006 and then got his Level one certification in 2010. Mark is also CrossFit law enforcement certified, and has been a Deputy Sheriff with Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s office since 2007. His favorite part of CrossFit is the community bond that forms among complete strangers. Mark and his wife Lindsay live on Evansville’s North side.
Shawn, CF-L1, has been doing CrossFit since early 2010 and received his Level 1 certification in 2012. Shawn is known for pushing his class, and feels great satisfaction watching his athletes reach their goals. His favorite part of CrossFit is mobility and he always tries to include several minutes of flexibility work in his classes. When he is not coaching at EC, Shawn is a Vanderburgh County Deputy and the President of Mr. Fence Inc. of Evansville. He has four amazing sons and a wonderful wife of 15 years.
Sharon started CrossFit in 2010, right before opening Evansville CrossFit. She became Level 1 Certified in 2010 and then quickly added CrossFit Kids and Mobility to her certifications. She loves teaching kids because they are creative, enthusiastic, and have tons of energy. She also loves witnessing the kids achieve their goals and improve on their movements and in their outside sports.
Jared’s favorite WOD’s are the ones that look easy on the board but are butt-kickers after you complete them. His favorite exercises and movements are double-unders, muscle-ups, and ground-to-overhead. Jared joined the United States Marine Corps in 2004 and was honorably discharged in 2008. Jared was deployed to both Afghanistan and Iraq to protect our country.
Porter has been doing CrossFit since October 2010, and has participated in several regional competitions. As a former bodybuilder (20+ years of experience), Porter loves the group concept of CrossFit as well as the competition and the camaraderie. Porter is a USMC veteran, is married to Kim for 7 years, and has 3 children aged 27, 22, and 17 and 3 grandsons, 8, 5, and 2.
Brittney started doing CrossFit in February 2010. She got hooked on the family-friendly atmosphere as well as seeing real results in herself and others. She lifted weights religiously for 15 years, but saw amazing results after only 6 months of CrossFit.
She works outside EC as a merchandiser at Shoe Carnival Inc. here in Evansville. Brittney and her family of 4 love fitness and find CrossFit to be a great way to bring everyone together.
Adam began Crossfit in 2010 at the persistent urging of Shawn King. He did not have huge expectations, but really enjoyed the competition and comradery. It fueled a competitive fire that had not been touched since his college wrestling days. He was hooked and still is. His lovely wife and kids have both enjoyed Crossfit and Crossfit Kids. It really is the community that counts.
It's a family, and something that we really enjoy. Adam works with individuals with developmental disabilities, and he sees what real challenges are every day of the week. It is very rewarding to be able to help people obtain their goal to be as independent as possible in life.
Rick started CrossFit in 2006 and received his CF-L1 in 2015. He has been with the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office since 1991, first as a confinement officer, and then became a merit deputy in 1995. Rick has been the lead physical tactics instructor for the Sheriff’s Office since 2001 and is currently the Commander over Personnel and Training. Prior to the Sheriff’s Office, Rick was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division P.I.R. where he was deployed to Honduras, Panama, and Iraq.
Rick is one of the few who made a combat jump into Panama. Rick’s love of CrossFit is due to his love for coaching, the bonding with others, and the competitive nature of “life after sports”
